The Walton’s Christmas movie :
The Homecoming
The Homecoming
This beloved Christmas classic first welcomed us into the heart of the Walton family, whose stories would light up our screens for nine unforgettable seasons.
It’s Christmas Eve, 1933, and excitement fills the air as the Waltons eagerly await their father’s return from a job far away. But when a snowstorm sweeps through, turning hope into uncertainty, young John Boy sets out on a courageous journey to bring his father home in time for Christmas.
Grab a cozy blanket and tune in for a story filled with love, determination, and the true spirit of the season—only on Your Christmas Station!
A Christmas Carol (1971)
There are countless versions of Dickens’ timeless holiday classic, but this animated special holds a special place in my heart—it’s one of the very best. As a very young boy, I remember sitting in front of the TV, completely mesmerized by its simple, faithful retelling of A Christmas Carol. No extra plot twists, just pure Dickens magic brought to life.
Adding to its charm is Alastair Sim, whose unforgettable voice performance as Scrooge in this animated gem mirrors his iconic portrayal of the character in the 1951 live-action masterpiece, Scrooge. It’s a story that has stayed with me, and it’s one I love revisiting every Christmas season.
‘Twas the Night Before Christmas (1974)
This cherished holiday special, starring the talented Joel Grey, brings Clement Clarke Moore’s classic poem to life in the most magical way—perfect for Your Christmas Station!
But there’s a twist! Santa has taken the entire town off his list after receiving an insulting letter. Now, it’s up to everyone to come together, set things right, and restore the Christmas spirit in time for Santa’s visit on Christmas Eve.
Gather the family and tune in to experience the heartwarming power of unity and holiday cheer—only on Your Christmas Station!
Dean Martin Christmas Special (1972).
The Dean Martin Show graced our screens and was shown in America for an incredible nine seasons on NBC, but it was his annual Christmas special that truly stole the spotlight, and our hearts, every year.
I can still remember the warm glow of the TV and the sound of Dean’s smooth, timeless voice filling the room. In this episode, he brings the magic of the season to life, performing cherished Christmas standards alongside his talented backup ensemble, The Golddiggers.
It’s a nostalgic trip back to a time when holiday specials were the heart of the season, a tradition that made every Christmas feel a little more special.
The Carpenters at Christmas (1977).
The Carpenters, one of Your Christmas Station’s all-time favorite artists, bring their signature warmth and charm to this unforgettable holiday special.
Joined by special guests like the hilarious Harvey Korman and the delightful Kristy McNichol, Karen and Richard serenade us with timeless Christmas classics and introduce some beautiful new songs that capture the spirit of the season.
It’s a musical holiday treat filled with joy, laughter, and the unmistakable magic of The Carpenters, perfect for making your Christmas season merry and bright!
The Carpenters: A Christmas Portrait.
The Carpenters: A Christmas Portrait (1978) was Richard and Karen Carpenter’s fourth TV special and their second—and final—Christmas-themed program. This heartwarming special holds a deep connection to their childhood, as many of the featured songs were inspired by Spike Jones’ 1956 Xmas Spectacular, a favorite of theirs growing up.
Fans of their 1978 album Christmas Portrait will also recognize many of the same beloved tracks, brought to life in this enchanting holiday celebration. It’s a timeless showcase of their extraordinary talent and love for the season.
Perry Como’s Early American Christmas (1978).
Perry Como invites us to step back in time and celebrate Christmas the way our forefathers did in this charming special, filmed in the historic setting of Colonial Williamsburg.
Joined by the legendary John Wayne and the delightful Diana Canova, Perry brings the warmth of the season to life with heartwarming performances and holiday cheer.
And don’t forget—you can keep the magic going with Perry Como’s timeless Christmas tunes playing all season long on Your Christmas Station. It’s the perfect soundtrack for a nostalgic and joyful holiday!
Bing Crosby and The Sounds of Christmas (1971)
Where would Christmas be without Bing at Christmas? This was Bing Crosby’s 36th holiday special and is a heartwarming blend of nostalgia and joy.
With his family by his side and special guests like Robert Goulet, Bing filled the air with timeless charm, classic carols, and the romance and magic that only Your Christmas Station can bring.
The Christmas Blessing (The Christmas Shoes 2)(2005)
One of the most beloved songs on Your Christmas Station each year is Newsong’s The Christmas Shoes. This touching ballad inspired a heartfelt movie in 2002, followed by a sequel in 2005.
The sequel follows medical resident Nathan Andrews, who, after losing a patient in surgery, steps away from his career to reconnect with his small-town roots. There, a chance encounter with an old friend offers hope for the future—until a sudden tragedy challenges everything he holds dear.
Happy Days Christmas (1974)
Happy Days was a hugely popular TV show, and one episode that stands out for me is their Christmas special. I remember it so vividly, and even now, it fills me with nostalgia for the simpler times it portrays.
In the episode, Howard dreams of a quiet Christmas with just the family, but Richie discovers that Fonzie, despite his tough-guy claims, is going to be alone for the holiday. They decide to invite him over, and “Christmas with Fonzie” takes on a heartwarming new meaning. It’s such a wonderful reminder of the importance of kindness and togetherness.
Val Doonican’s Very Special Christmas (1984)
Val Doonican’s Very Special Christmas Show from 1984 is a memory I’ll always treasure. As a young boy, Christmas was the most exciting time of year, and this annual show, which aired on BBC1 around 9 PM on Christmas Eve, was the perfect way to cap off the evening before heading to bed, buzzing with anticipation for the big day.
Val’s warm charm and festive spirit set the tone, and he was joined by an incredible lineup of guests, including Engelbert Humperdinck, Perry Como, Pam Ayres, The Cambridge Buskers, and even a few surprise visitors. The blend of music, humor, and holiday cheer made it feel like a true celebration. By the time the show ended, I’d drift off to sleep with a head full of joy and excitement. Those were such wonderful times!
The Andy Williams Christmas Show (1966)
This Christmas special is a true nostalgia-packed delight!
Beloved crooner Andy Williams leads viewers through a Winter Wonderland of cherished holiday classics, including “Carol of the Bells,” “Mary’s Boy Child,” and his iconic rendition of “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.”
Joining him are his talented wife, French songstress Claudine Longet, his harmonious siblings, the Williams Brothers, and the show-stopping Osmond Brothers. It’s a festive celebration brimming with timeless charm! Let’s go back to where life seemed so much simpler…
